Is Putin A Friend Of The Federal Reserve?

Note: this byline is NOT A SUGGESTION OF POLITICAL MANIPULATION by Russia, don’t even go there. And ofc (of course), not financial advice, dyor.

Anyways, at a time that interest rates would rationally rise (Fed increasing interest rates, selling its MBS holdings), the Ukraine situation could have the opposite effect as the world seeks safe havens and in general, at this point in time, that means the US Dollar, and the dominant asset in the US? The US Treasury Bond market. Note: this is definitely different than years ago, when the Japanese Yen was see as the relatively-uncorrelated currency, that is history.

Net? For unrelated reasons, Chairman Powell may have a respite, to some degree, for now, ‘courtesy’ of the Ukraine situation. Which one dominates is an open question. Hmm.

Don’t Like Your Medicare Advantage Plan?
Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Ends March 31.

You can change your Medicare Advantage plan one time, if and only if you are a current policyholder, through the end of March.

You can cancel your Medicare Advantage plan entirely and enroll in a standalone prescription drug plan (PDP, Part D). However, in the absence of Medigap, you will face unlimited financial exposure because the federal Medicare, by itself, does not have an annual out of pocket maximum limit.

There can be viable reasons for this. Network changes, benefit changes, prescription drug coverage changes that you were not aware of during 2021, many many more.

Note: a financial person is prohibited from actively suggesting a change, unless you approach him/her. I am pretty certain this is violated, but it won’t be by us. No chance. None. Zero. Zilch. Nada. You get the point.

Did You Mishandle Medicare Enrollment?
Medicare General Enrollment Period Ends March 31.

If you have not, for whatever reason (this is the judgement-free zone, mostly), correctly enrolled in Medicare Part A and / or Medicare Part B, then this is the time that you can correct it. However, the coverage date will not be until July 1, 2022.

If this is the path chosen, then there is a Special Enrollment Period that will begin on April 1, so that you can enroll in either a Medicare Advantage plan or a standalone prescription drug plan (aka PDP or Part D), with the coverage to begin July 1, 2022.
